Manhattan 2016: Open Professional Ballroom

I had really good time watching the Professional Standard at the Manhattan Dancesport Championships. My overall impression of this event was that many couples tried too hard so the performance was not as good as I have seen them dance in the studio. Out of 24 couples the judges chose a great semi-final.

Do you Believe in Magic?

“Do you believe in magic?” was this year’s them for the Millennium Dancesport Championships and how can you not, being so close to the “Magic Kingdom.” This year’s big move from Tampa, Florida to Orlando, Florida was a big move by the organizer (Michael Chapman) for the Millennium Dancesport Championships, but as if it was orchestrated with a wand the move went nice and easy with out a hitch.

Open American Smooth Manhattan 2016

The Open American Smooth at the Manhattan Dancesport Championships delivered all that it was supposed to.  With the absence of the Perzhu’s from the field this year, it could’ve been a very interesting year for this style.  However, it hasn’t turned out that way. But with the excitement of both American Styles being danced at the Open British next year I hope that the dancers can push through the politics and challenge each other to bring the best and most innovative dancing to Blackpool.
